Hi, my name is

Nathaniel Buck.

I am a student living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am currently an undergraduate at the University of Pittsburgh studying Computer Science. This is my website.

Senator Obama Visits Pitt

This post was published on March 28th, 2008 and was filed under Politics.

Today, Senator Barack Obama came to the University of Pittsburgh to address his supporters at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial. After being endorsed and introduced by Senator Casey, Senator Obama spoke for nearly an hour to the sold out crowd of 2,400 people.

Senator Obama shared his empowering message of change in preparation for Pennsylvania’s Democratic primaries being held on April 22nd. Obama is not expected to win the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania, predicted to be 23% to 8% behind Senator Clinton, depending on the poll. However, even narrowing the margin to single digits would be encouraging to Obama’s campaign.

Just as a note, Obama is not necessarily my first choice for a presidential candidate. I’m a bit more conservative when it comes to most political issues, and usually side with the Republican party (which is where I’m registered.) Though, out of the Democratic candidates, Obama would be my first choice. If it came down to websites, however, Barack Obama would definitely be my first choice.

  1. Awesome pics. I would have liked to listen to him speak but I didn’t even know he was on campus until after he already left.

  2. I didn’t land tickets, but I listened to him on the speakers outside of soldiers and sailors. I plan to blog about it when I have time. I think that the more he visits the more Pennsylvanians will come around to him. From what I hear, when Clinton visited, there weren’t nearly as many people.

  3. Good crops on my pictures Nathaniel. I’m glad you were open to posting these even though you are not a supporter. I think our generation needs to make a responsible decision to be more open to other ideas and to be actively involved in issues in a proactive manner. Of course in my opinion I think a big first step would be to quit electing the baby boomers such as Hillary and McCain who is still fighting the Vietnam War. Also as an attendee of the Hillary rally a few weeks prior, she did not quite fill the place and the mood was fairly tepid although she did have her supporters. I didn’t need tickets in advance to see Hillary and in fact got there 15 minutes before hand and walked right in. As for Obama I had to work my sources for a ticket and got there 3 hours prior at 8AM.
