Seems like a cool idea but how are they pulling it off without crossing copyright lines? I mean I can listen to music right off the stream that I havent paid for, and its easy to rip it using 3rd party software.
Cool idea but im wondering how they are pulling that off legally…This wire article even cites how they were able to upload tunes that weren
t ‘allowed’:http://blog.wired.com/music/2008/03/muxtape-keeps-t.html
“Apparently, you’re not supposed to upload “multiple songs from the same album or artist or songs [you] do not have permission to let Muxtape use,” but in our test (a smattering of lesser-heard My Bloody Valentine tracks), copyrighted material was not filtered out by audio fingerprint as it is with some other services.”

Dan,
I totally agree. As soon as people stared talking about Muxtape, the issue of legality came up immediately.
I’m not sure how long it’s going to last, but I’m definitely going to enjoy it for the time being. For me, it’s simply a great way to discover some terrific music.
